Taiwan Halal Products Sharing and Cooking Demo by Chef Nurilkarim

Halal bubble tea? That’s right! The ever-popular bubble tea from Taiwan is made using halal raw material which makes it the ideal beverage for Muslim in Malaysia and beyond.

One of the activity during the Taiwan Expo 2019 is the Taiwan Halal and Bubbles Tea Products Sharing Session which was held on the second day of the expo, 6 July 2019.

With the Penang government actively developing its halal industry, there are plenty of business opportunities between Taiwanese halal products manufacturers and Malaysian businesses waiting to be explored. Taiwanese halal products are highly regarded for the high-quality production and attractive packaging, and the products on display at this year’s expo include many halal food and beverage items, halal beauty products and halal agricultural products.

Amongst the activities lined up is a special cooking demonstration by Penang’s own celebrity chef Nurilkarim Razha, cooking a delectable Nyonya Asam Fish Curry and Pineapple and Cucumber Acar (salad) using Taiwanese halal products.

Chef Nurilkarim is a chef owner of a famous Malay Cuisine Restaurant in Penang, the Jawi House Cafe Gallery. In his cooking demonstration, Chef Nurilkarim used fish and fruits from Taiwan by the exhibitors of the expo.

The main exhibitors at the halal pavilion include five of the most iconic halal products and bubble tea maker in Taiwan, including Shih Chen Foods, Yilan Anyong LOHAS, FuFann Enterprise, Kuojer Enterpreise and Yung Soon Lih Food Machine. The companies will be showcasing their instant milk tea, premium fish essence, coconut paste, bubble tea raw ingredient, and multifunctional bubble tea cooker respectively.

Bubble tea, the hottest product of Taiwan, has swept through Malaysia swiftly in the recent couple of
years, attracting queues and crowds, and solidifying the Taiwan’s determination in the distribution and business expansion of bubble tea in Malaysia. Thus, it is of particular importance whether the bubble tea vendors are able to offer halal products. Bubble tea originated in Taiwan and has proliferated throughout the world. It is now ready to blend in with the local Nyonya culture of Penang, bringing the sweet taste of happiness to Malaysian life.

Aside of halal food and drinks, Taiwan Halal Centre also makes further effort to ensure halal cosmetics by Taiwan skincare manufacturers as well. So like they say, you can now "gunakan tanpa was-was." Yes!

There were four Taiwanese brands with Halal certification at the Taiwan Beauty Pavilion inclduing Bravura, Maskingdom, Aqpar and Bio Jourdeness.

One of the brands showcasing their product, Bio Jourdess which was founded in 1989, is a leading chin beauty company that includes product research, production, education and beauty service in Taiwan. Bio Jourdeness insists the spirit of "leading brand, heading future" and the idea if "being respectful, sustainable operation."

As of today, Taiwan has more than 1000 halal-certified manufacturers and eateries compared to the 500 each in Japan and South Korea. The Taiwanese government has put significant effort and resources in developing its halal industry.

In addition to participating in Taiwan Expo, the Taiwan Halal Centre which was tasked with developing Taiwan's halal market and is endorsed by JAKIM, also work with renowned Malaysian hypermarket chain, MYDIN, to feature hundreds of Taiwan halal products in numerous product fairs.

So I think we can foresee more Taiwanese products in the market soon?

By the way, during the event, I managed to answer a quick quiz during the products presentation and got myself a box of tea and a double wall glass bottle from 3.15pm yeayy!

Thank you 3.15pm!

The question was "What is 3.15pm?" and the answer is "it is the time when the Taiwanese usually having their tea time." Hikss! Told ya I was a good student and always listen to what the teacher and lecturers taught lol!

  4. Halal kena segenap aspek. Cara pembuatan dan orang yang making satu2 produk. Bukan halal pada kertas sijil sahaja. Asbab Naim selalu mengambil berat tentang makanan, kerana ia membawa kepada menjadi darah daging kita
