Sambutan Hari Kebangsaan Malaysia ke-66 2023 di Stadium Batu Kawan, Pulau Pinang

Tanggal tiga puluh satu, bulan lapan, lima puluh tujuh!

Dari kecil, lagu ni memang kerap dinyanyikan bila menjelang hari kebangsaan Malaysia. Sekarang, anak-anak pun dah hafal dah lagu ni.

31 Ogos 2023 yang lepas, mummy daddy bawa the Bees ke Stadium Batu Kawan untuk menyaksikan acara Perbarisan dan Perarakan

Hari Kebangsaan ke-66 Peringkat Negeri Pulau Pinang. Tahun ni, kali ke tiga kakak abang. Diorang dah tau dah akan ada perbarisan anggota badan beruniform dan perarakan kenderaan dan jentera-jentera, tu yang excited tu.

Halal Dim Sum at Canning Dim Sum Express, Bayan Baru, Penang

I planned for a surprise birthday lunch for husband with the whole family member at Canning Dim Sum Express, Bayan Lepas last week. Since husband's birthday would fall on a weekday, so I planned for the lunch the day before his actual birthday. Told him that we would go out for his birthday lunch, little that he knew that I invited his family too.

The lunch was also a way for me to take the chance to gather with the in-laws while my mom was in town too.  And while we were at it, we celebrated bro-in-law, Hafiz's belated birthday and parents-in-law, Ibu Ayah's anniversary as well.

Few hours before we leave the house for lunch, I told Balqis that we were going out to celebrate daddy's birthday and asked if she has bought any gift, jokingly. She was sad that she did not have anything to give so I told her she could write a wish for daddy. She was excited and straight away took her book and pencil case and ask how to write Happy Birthday for daddy.

Looking at how excited she was, I took out my box of papers, stickers, stationaries and help her make a card. A last minuted birthday card.

I'm pretty sure daddy was happy with this. :')

Birthday Party with KFC Chicky & Friends at AEON Big Ampang

We actually didn't plan big for Bilal's second birthday party. All we had in mind was to buy a cake and some food and hang out with family at home. But my mom got another idea and she wanted to throw her grandson a birthday party at any fast food restaurant instead. After giving some thoughts and had some discussions, we said okay to Nenek. So we had Bilal's 2nd birthday party at KFC Aeon Big Ampang the day after his actual birthday (because of the availability of the slot).

We choose KFC as our party place as it is obviously everyone's favorite fast food restaurant. KFC Aeon Big Ampang is the nearest KFC store from our place which have the birthday party service. Plus point that the party area is spacious and is separated from the main KFC dining area.

Surprise Anniversary Dinner at Akar Lima Kulim

Days before our anniversary, Husband had already informed that he was taking a day leave from work so we could go out, just the two of us. I was looking forward to the day. It had been ages since we had our date without the kids. Hehe.

So on the day itself, we were getting ready to go out when I asked where were we going. He said he needed to go to the bank. (On out anniversary? pppft.) Okay la.. but we went to our favourite breakfast place at Astaka Taman Tun Sardon first. We had capati with kuah daging, all time favourite serabai and roti sandwich daging and tuna. Then we went to the bank to get his thing settled and went to catch a movie. We decided to watch Paskal due to all the positive review. I am glad that we chose Paskal after all these years of no movie. It was a great movie. Got myself emotional a bit.

After movie, husband said we were going to have early dinner. Early cos we had to go back early to fetch the kids from the babysitter. (Yeah.. dating pun kena cepat-cepat lol). So he drove to I didn't know where he didn't want to tell. I was actually thinking we would go to Blackwood Cafe as he entered Kulim. But no, he drove to this place I don't even know where he found out named Akar Lima. And then came the surprise.

The lady owner showed our table. With balloons and flowers and "Happy Anniversary" decorations.

Middle east lunch for Woon Shin's farewell

A colleague from Admissions department, Woon Shin's last day in IMU was last Friday. My manager wanted to have a farewell lunch with her as she had been working with us for quite a lot of time when involve Admissions department. We decided to go to Al-Diafah, a middle east restaurant in Sri Petaling for her farewell lunch together with Kak Liza and Jacinta.

Al-Diafah is a very nice middle east restaurant, from environment, decorations up to the food that they serve. I've been there for a few times including another colleague's farewell last year and dinner with mummy. I like the decorations so much it makes me feel like I'm in the Arabic countries.

Syawal's Jejak Tanah ceremony

Last week, cousin Angah invited me to attend her son, Syawal's Jejak Tanah ceremony. Angah has the Rawa (Rao) bloodline on his father's side. Syawal is my third nephew who did this jejak tanah thing according to the Rawa tradition after cousin Along's sons, Harris and Hadief.

And no, I don't have the Rawa blood in me. I just have the interest in people tradition and culture. Another ceremony that I wish to attend and watch is the Lenggang Perut. You know... the ceremony for the 7-months pregnant mother-to-be, er.. well I don't really know what they do. But I do mean Lenggang Perut, ok. Not that oh-so-modern baby shower thing. So if you or any of your family/friend is having your/her Lenggang Perut, please invite me ok. *buat muka tak malu sikit*

Anyway, you can read about the detail flow of the Jejak Tanah ceremony on my previous post I wrote for Hadief's jejak tanah (click here). Yes, I'm that lazy to write everything up again. Huhu.

Enjoy the simple video here, follows by the not-so-many pictures took during the ceremony.

Village in the city for Aidilfitri

Most of the shopping malls had started to decorate their mall especially the lobby area to bring the raya mood to their customers in accordance to the coming hari raya Aidilfitri. Well, logically when the mood is there, the more they will spend on raya stuff, right. So I went to three different shopping malls in Bukit Bintang area last Saturday and found that all three have similar theme for hari raya decorations in the main lobby area – the Malay village.

Sharmi’s Bollywood style reception

I didn’t really blog about friends’ weddings lately (except for KNizam’s) since there were too much wedding one after another – Sharifah, Eda, Ashraf, Salmi, Sharmi etc. But I gotta blog about Sharmi’s Bollywood reception.  Sharmi’s father is a Pakistani, she had this Bollywood style reception in honor to her paternal bloodline.

Went there with Baiti, Eda and her husband. Sharmi, Eda and I are known as Bollywood fans not Baiti. During high school, Sharmi, Eda and I used to sing and dance to Hindi songs a lot. And if you know me well, you would know that Bollywood is sooo my thing!

Sunway Pyramid lights off for the Earth Hour 2011

It is an annual campaign on conserving the earth through the Earth Hour program. Every year in end of March, we are called to switch off the lights as a support to the Earth Hour awareness campaign. This year, the Sunway Pyramid mall together with the Malaysian WWF celebrating the Earth Hour 2011 at the main entrance of Sunway Pyramid.

I wished to go, but didn’t have proper plan. Not until the afternoon on the 26th March itself that me, Khairil, Een and Andy decided to hang out at Empire Subang, which turned out to be a bit bored so we headed to Sunway instead to spend the evening. Since we were already there, we stayed for the Earth Hour countdown as well.

Too bad with no plan, no camera was brought, so all pictures are captured only by our phones.

9 must-have items for Chinese New Year

Being a Malay myself, I don’t recall having anything in particular that we need to prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Aidiladha that symbolic for anything. We just prepare variety of dishes, new clothes and decorate our house for the guest like any other religion would do as celebrating their own ‘raya’.

I was reading The Sun this morning and came across a simple yet informative article regarding how the Chinese celebrates the Chinese New Year. I remember visited my former primary schoolmate -Cheong Ee Wan's house during Chinese New Year and another friend, Narveen's house for Deepavali. Those were the days when I celebrated all the 'raya' in Malaysia. I think I have less multiracial friends now. Or I do, but I just don't share the celebration with them anymore.

We live in Malaysia with different races, religions and cultures. I don’t know if you like to get to know their cultures, but I do. So I’m sharing what I read about celebrating Chinese New Year with those who are interested to know as well.

Goodbye 2010

I’ve never celebrated the eve of New Year, so I’ve never done any post on end/new year. But looking and reading all blogs posting about the memories of 2010, and their wish for 2011 makes me feel like writing a post, too.

So, let me start by doing a summary of my 2010 even though I know there's nothing much to share. Just a reminder to myself, I guess. :)

The OgilvyPRKL dinner, ‘Makan’

Well, as a previous Maxis10 reviewer of the Nokia N8, I was invited to a dinner party held by the Ogilvy PRKL, the company who organize the Maxis10 Programme on behalf of Maxis. The dinner - ‘Makan’ – was held at their place, at Menara Milenium, Damansara on the Friday night.

One of the objective or reason for the dinner is to celebrate the people who directly or indirectly involve with their company. And also for the Ogilvy team and us to mingle, and us, with each other. Well, me being me, I dont really go around, just hang out with my two bodyguards of the day and fortunately, Kak Nani (@loveykatz) was also there and we just sat and gossiping. ;p

My very own Blossom’s wedding

Early this year, my very own Buttercup; Siti Noorzidah tied the knot with the love of her life, Wan Hasanol Bolkiah. Last weekend, I went to Tanah Merah, Kelantan for my own Blossom; Nurul Akma’s wedding with Mohd Hishamuddin Mikail Lim.

I went to kelantan with two other friends, Zidah (her hubby was still in Sabah) and Ikhwan. A very short trip but meaningful for all of us, who are very busy and herd to find the time to gather. The solemnization was done right after Zuhur and then they proceed with the reception on the same day -September 25th, 2010.

Welcome to the family, Syawal

Yes he was born in the holy month of Ramadhan. 28 Ramadhan 1431H. But he was named Syawal by his parents.

The doctor estimated that cousin Angah would deliver her baby on 20+ September, so should be in Syawal. So, Angah and her husband, Hakim had planned to name their soon-to-be-born baby Syawal. But with Allah’s will, Angah’s water bag broke earlier than expected and due to circumstances, she had her C-section operation on 7th September at 8.40pm.

Congratulations to cousin Angah and hubby Hakim.

Dear friends, meet baby Muhammad Syawal bin Mohd Hakim. :)

Surprise visit to Manjung for Kak Farhah’s Birthday

Last Sunday, me with some friends went to Manjung, Perak to celebrate my dear Kak farhah’s birthday. I really want to surprise her as she, with my whole bunch of kakaks & abangs, did a surprise birthday celebration for me on my birthday last year. Plus, it has been a while since we met after she left USM and started working in Ipoh. So I planned the surprise visit with her husband, Ikmal.

We reached Manjung at around 3 o’clock and went straightaway to the Secret Recipe, as planned. But, Ikmal who supposed to bring Kakak at 3 pm arrived at 330 om with the birthday girl and her sister, Madihah. (Ikmal, memang nak kene nih!)

2Happy Birthday, Kakak!!!

3Jejak kasih Kak Ida & Madihah. Macam bertahun tak jumpa –_-“

So anyways, no, we didn’t celebrate with all the balloons and birthday decorations. Just a simple lunch and hang-out session – changing stories, updating gossips – like we always do.

4Kakak waiting for us to sing her the birthday song.

5    She’s happy with the song ( which the Secret Recipe put on the speaker, not sing by us ).

6Blowing the candle.

1My super-delicious chicken cordon bleu :D

8Kak ida & Madihah learning to be a good mum :P

Then we went to Kak Farhah’s house for a while, to see Mama & do our prayers.

9Baby Aryan with his (self-proclaimed) god-mother ;p

We headed back at around 6+ pm, but we didn’t just go back. Hehe. We stopped by Taiping for a dinner at the famous Doli Kuey Teow Goreng. Finally!!! XD

( Dear B, I promise next time we go to Doli TTDI together-gether k. You jgn la merajuk2 mengadu kat kawan I lagi tau. :P )

10Alhamdulillah dpt jugak.

Then, we go back to campus, with happy mood happy hearts and happy stomach XD.

Thank you for the roadtrip crew for making this possible, and to Ikmal for helping me in planning the surprise trip.

p/s: I intentionally didn’t put up much of others’ photo, so that Kakak will be happy that this post is dedicated to her, with most of the photos are hers. :’)

Muhammad Anwar bin Shaharuddin

Saya ada seorang kawan baik. Nama die Muhammad Anwar bin Shaharuddin. Saya mengenali beliau semasa berusia 13 tahun di mana kami bersama2 ditempatkan di kelas 1 Amanah, SMK Aminuddin Baki, KL tahun 1998. Masa tingkatan 1, beliau agak famous di kalangan pelajar2 perempuan kelas lain. Tapi makin meningkat, tahap kefemesan beliau semakin berkurang.

Tahniahhhh!! Aku gembira untuk kalian berdua :’)
