Life is short, so live it to the fullest

“Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you deal with it is what makes the difference.”
- Virginia Satir

In a few months, I’m gonna turn 25 and I don’t think I’ve achieve much in life. I’m not working, yet. I haven’t been conferred with the Masters Degree. I am not even married. But, I do live my life to the fullest (or at least I think I am). I tried to do many thing in life that I think If I didn’t try to do it before I get older or die, it’ll be a loss for me.

1. I tried kayak.

2010_06_05_8301

I am afraid of the sea since the incident where I almost drown when I was small. But when a friend asked me to go to a kayak course with her during my 1st year study in USM, I think I should at least give it a try. We went to kayak at Pantai Merdeka, Kedah and I found myself enjoying it. The last time I kayaked was during the holiday with family at the Rebak Island, Langkawi.

2. I went into a cave.

Gua_TempurungSource : Google.com

(I don’t know what term I should use for ‘going into a cave’ activity.) I went into Gua Tempurung, Perak with high-school friends in 2001. It was one of the greatest experiences ever – to crawl in the water that almost got into the mouth, to climb up the rock, to slide down a slippery rock which almost hurt my hands palm for trying to ‘control & break’ (stupid me!). Too bad my camera fall into the water, and so I don’t have any picts during the trip.I wanna go again… but… :(

3. I savour every bite of a meal.

DSC06958 2010_08_15_8728 IMAG0517How can I resist this? :/

I love foods. Enuff said. Everyone who is close to me knows the fact that I enjoy eating variety of foods and enjoy trying new food. Malay, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Middle East, Western, Italian. Name it! :D

4. I danced traditional dance.

001[13]

Yes, you can go to the club and dance till you drop. But you can’t easily dance any Malay traditional dance. Try to dance to a Zapin – you’ll be lost in the middle of the dancers if you don’t stick to the beat. Try to dance to an Inang – you’ll find yourself like a wood in the middle of the leaves blowing in the wind.

5. I hiked.

2009_10_18_3591Tweeting from 227m above sea level ;)

I did it, to the Muka Head Light House, Penang National Park! That was one of my biggest achievements due to the health problem I have. It was fun! And even funnier when I get to tweet from up above and sent mms to several ‘lucky’ people, to show how excited I was.

6. I keep old friends, I make new friends.

6452_122427708043_575488043_2367835_529799_n2003 @ SMK Aminuddin Baki

Thanks to the invention of Twitter, I made new friends each day. And I honestly glad I get to know most of them – the awesome twiends of mine.

7. I travel.

DSC01977 2009_07_05_1659

I wish to write it as ‘I go travel all around the world’ but sadly I haven’t really been out of Malaysia for holiday. But that doesn’t stop me for still go travel all around Malaysia. I’ve already been to 12 out of 13 states in Malaysia (not including Federal Territory), and still I find that I haven’t been to a lot of interesting places in the states. I need to go to Sabah to complete all 13 states. I even dedicated my travelling experience to the places of interest in my travel blog – Bubbles Goes Travel. I wish and pray one day I’ll get to really write it as ‘I go travel all around the world’. Aminnn~

8. I touched a snake.

001

Like, finally!!! I am so NOT gonna touch it again! Hahaha. See the obvious muka cuak of mine? And see my cousin Diba cheated, she held the snake with a shawl. Plus the snake head is with me, Diba only held the tail. Scaryyy!!Anyway I’ve always wanted to try to touch a snake and now that I had, it’s gonna be the once in a lifetime experience. Confession : the snake was heavy that i feel pain in my neck :/

9. I learned to cook and bake.

18235232 101_3046a (1)

Cooking and baking is hard for those who are not born with the talent, like me. So far I’ve learned to prepare simple Malay dishes such as curry, sambal, asam pedas, Indian famous Rasam and Chinese cuisine like Chicken Stew.  I tried to prepare chicken chop and mushroom soup, which I learned in a cooking class (yes, I’m not ashamed to admit that I went to several cooking and baking classes). I baked cakes and pastries. And well, I’ve tried to prepare sushi too. :D Either it taste good or not, never mind. At least I have the courage to try, right? :)

10. I got myself a Degree in Polymer Engineering.

n575488043_680740_3367USM 38th Convocation ceremony, 2008

And to get my Masters Degree, soon. InsyaAllah. :)

11. I blog.

Besides blogging to share what I know or done with all of the blog readers, I also blog as my life journal to keep record of every single thing I accomplished every day. Once in a while, I’ll spend my time to re-read my previous post to see how have I lived my life.

There are still a lot of things I want to do and I wish I get the chance to do it, InsyaAllah.
Join me in living life to the fullest. Start your list today! :)

Dansa by Sasha Bashir, Part II

For readers who have been reading my blog for quite a while, you might have come to a post titled Dansa by Sasha Bashir I posted a few months back. I really want the Dansa book but it’s a bit costly (at least for me). I’ve been eyeing the book and been reading it while spending time in Borders Queensbay Mall.

And last week, Sasha Bashir offered her Dansa, A Dance Journey book as a giveaway in her blog. Not a contest, free giveaway, randomly pick winners. How cool is that? Trying my luck, i send an email to her, wishing I’ll be picked as the lucky ones.

DSC06864

But since it’s a random pick, i know it must be hard to be chosen, since I’ve already won a contest from her blog once. So some friends volunteered to help email Sasha on my behalf, and i asked some other to email for me. It was mentioned that anyone can state for whom the book is dedicated to, to be autographed.

A twitter friend of mine, techsupremo was one of the random winners picked and he did dedicate the book to me. Yayyy!!! Thank you soooo much!!!

I am happy :D

Jon Chu’s Step Up 3 in 3D

step-up-1

Step Up (2006) is one of the movies that i like to watch repeatedly every now and then. Starring the lovely-wed couple, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan as Tyler Gage and Nora Clark, the movie grabbed my attention with the dance steps from two different dance; break-dance & ballet. Tyler and Nora paired in the final dance (showcase) combining both dances, turned out to be a splendid dance show. Plus, i just simply love Channing Tatum. Well, it’s a bonus to have him as the lead actor, right. :P

The songs listed in the soundtrack like “Give it up to me” by Sean Paul ft. Keyshia Cole and “Get up” by Ciara ft. Chammillionaire have been in my repeat mode playlist since then, till today.

Then two years later, Jon Chu came out with Step Up 2 : The Street, starring Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman.

step-up-2-the-streets-poste

Even though Channing Tatum made only a quick appearance at the beginning of the movie, and i don’t really like Robert Hoffman who played Chase Collins style of dance, the movie totally killed it with the street dance choreography. I like the character of Andie’s new friend, Moose (by Adam Sevani). Moose is just..cute!

If you’re a Gleek, and u’ve watched Step Up 2, you’ll recognize that one of the New Direction member, Mike Chang a.k.a “Other Asian” (Harry Shum Jr.) starred in the movie too as Cable.

Again, this year Jon Chu make a comeback with Step Up 3 releasing (maybe) in August. And it’s in 3D yawww!!

step-up-3d-poster-full-2-4-10-kc

There will be no Tyler & Nora, no Chase & Andie. But Moose and Cable will stay in this 3rd sequel of Step Up. Jesse McCartney , Flo Rida, Trey Songz, B.o.B, Sean Paul, Girlicious and T-Pain are some of the artists name listed in the soundtrack.

New York’s intense street dancing underground comes alive in eye-popping Digital 3D as the raw, passion-fueled culture goes global. A tight-knit group of street dancers, including Luke (Rick Malambri) and Natalie (Sharni Vinson), team up with NYU freshman Moose (Adam Sevani) and Alyson Stoner, and find themselves pitted against the worlds best hip hop dancers in a high-stakes showdown that will change their lives forever.

And check this trailer out!

Oh My.. I cant wait for this!!!

Teater Muzikal Teratak Minang

Mainan muzik yang diketuai oleh Pak Ngah a.k.a Shuhaimi Mohd Zain sangat bestt!!

DSC06484

Kebetulan hari tu hari terakhir, Malam Gala, turut dihari oleh Dato Seri Utama Rais Yatim. Elly Kassim menjemput Puan Seri Utama berduet dendangkan lagu Ubekkan Denai pada penutup teater. Not bad! ;p
  DSC06494

Diperkenalkan……

DSC06509

Rustam Rusdi, Arif Rahman Rusvid & Imam Rellygius Tartusi. 3 jejaka anggota kumpulan trio Ganto Rio dari Padang, Indonesia. Yang berjaya menambat hatiku itu ialah Imam yg comel :’) lantak lah org lain kata muka dia jambu. hati dah suka. nasib baik x ikut die balik Padang :p

Dah lah sedih x sedar kamera kompak set ISO tinggi.. tengok gambar dah byk noise.. :( sbb tu jugak x leh upload banyak gambar.

Untuk gambar2 Teater Muzikal Teratak Minang tengok kat sini. Jumpa masa Google hari tu. Nak lebih lagi, Google la sendiri. Hehe.

Honestly, eventho without the cutie pie Imam Rellygius Tartusi, i would still give the show a perfect 5 stars!! Elly Kassim, Eddy Sillitongga, the actors and actresses, the musicians, the dancers - Artistana Istana Budaya (Malaysia) & Sofyani Dance Group (Indonesia), the crews – they all deserved a standing ovation!!

Terima kasih abg Den Wahab for the beautiful Teratak Minang The Musical!!

So, seperti biase, siapa nak belanja? ;p

05 Mei 2010

So, anyways, Teratak Minang memang sangat menarik tertarik kau mmg da bomb la! Tapi kali ni belum nak cerita pasal teater tu, next post ey.

Kali ni nak cerita kenapa tertarik sangat nak tengok Teratak Minang.
Kire lagu ni memang terkenal la bagi orang2 yg layan lagu traditional or lagu Minang, spesifik nya.
Lepas tu, atas sebab2 tertentu, berhenti menari, minat terkubur.

Sampailah masa zaman belajar kat Kolej Matrikulasi Negeri Sembilan tahun 2003/04. So ape lagi. Macam bulan jatuh ke riba. Terus bagi nama nak join. :D

001The dancers, Diotari

002The musicians, Bongai

So anyways, nama kumpulan penari kami Diotari (Dio means dia, so macam nak kata “dia menari”) and pemuzik Bongai. :D

Masa ni, choreographer kami, Cikgu Sham banyak ajar bahasa Minang (note that bahasa Minang N9 isn’t really the same with bahasa Minang Padang), adat2 Minang, lagu2 Minang dan tarian kami juga lebih berunsurkan Minang.

Rindu korang :’(

I just think that it’s so cool & nice to have a culture that u hold on, since I was born & raised in KL, I don’t really hold on to any specific culture, or even dialect.

“Budayo disanjung tinggi,
adat Popatih dijago,
sedetik dilupo tidak,
dilupo tidak…”

Tunggu update pasal Teratak Minang pulak, k. Spoiler alert!! I FALL IN LOVE WITH IMAM RELLYGIUS TARTUSI!! Hahahahaha

p/s: I still haven’t got the book Dansa by Sasha Bashir… takde ke sape2 nak belanje…. :((

Dansa by Sasha Bashir

21.01.10

Have you ever heard of Sasha Bashir?

Well, she might not be as famous as Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza the singer, or Maya Karin the actress. But I bet some of you might’ve came across her name before. She worked for Istana Budaya and performed in few theatres. She was the host for Explorace and she was one of the actress of “5 Jingga” drama.

I simply like her because she is a graduate from West Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Performing Arts. And this is because I love dancing especially traditional dance.

So she has this documentary of dances titled DANSA that was aired on TV3 earlier last year and re-aired on NTV7 (English version) by end of last year. And unfortunately i hadn’t had the chance to watch the show :( This is the very disadvantages of staying in the hostel, you know…

DSC_0753

Anyway, few months ago, she launched her first book ever also by the titled DANSA. The book includes beautiful photographs of her during the shooting of DANSA episode taken by Aiemax/Fazari, Madehi and Jay Ismail. The photographs are including the different places she went, the costumes and the story of the dances.

(Picture courtesy of Sasha Bashir’s blog)

It is a hardcover with 200 pages, contains over 250 beautifully photographed moments during her journey of the documentary. There are also pictures taken behind-the-scenes while Sasha Bashir and the production crew travelled to 13 locations for the show including states in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and Japan.

dansa

DANSA by Sasha Bashir is available in Malaysia bookstores for RM 130.

So here come the question…

who’s willing to get this for me….?

Please…..

Pretty please….. >_<
