The tradition continues on new year day - City Walk 1.1.2020

City Walk 2020 are the forth City Walk for mummy and daddy, third for Balqis and second for Bilal. Since we've been joining this for 4 years out of 8 years of City Walk, I can say it looks like it is almost being a tradition for our family. Plus, I kinda like the stamp collection on City Walk passport at check-points thing.

When we joined the City Walk 2014, we got pregnant with Balqis. So we skipped 2015 and 2016. We joined City Walk 2017 and later we found out we were pregnant with Bilal, hence no City Walk 2018 for us. But last year was good, hence we came back again yeay!

Like previous year, we woke up early on New Year morning to join the other Penangites for the City Walk 2020. City Walk is an annual event organized by Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang in conjunction with City Day. What I like about the City Walk is that not like other walk where you just walk for few kilometres to get the medal. One of this walk objective is to let you know more about Penang generally.

Each participants will be given a passport with five Penang attractions, historical places or main roads, and you will get stamped when you reach the check points.

Up and ready to walk!

The event started with and opening speech by Penang Chief Minister and we started to walk at about 7.40 am. The walk started at Penang Town Hall (Dewan Bandaraya), which was also the first check point for City Walk 2020.

The second check-point was at the Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling. It is one of the famous street in Penang where Masjid Kapitan Keling is located.

The third check-point was at an old Odeon cinema located on Penang Road. Penang Road is one of the main road in Georgetown where the famous Chow Rasta market is located.

If you passed by the Penang Road, you may still see the old tram tracks on the road. that were used before 1920s. The electric tram made its debut in 1905, giving birth to the George Town Municipal Tramway (GTMT), which was tasked with the running of the tram system. The trams were gradually replaced by trolleybuses in the 1920s.

The forth check-point was the Lebuh Cannon.

Public service announcement:
Park your car at at proper parking space.
Do not block the ramp where strollers or wheelchair would be going up and down.

Nearing the last check-point.

And the final check-point was at Lebuh Pantai (Beach Street).

When we reached the final check point, participants were able to collect a souvenir (key chain), a muffin and a drink. And I definitely love this year's drink! The Farm Fresh Mixed Berries Yogurt drink!

There were perfomances and lucky draws too! We did not get anything, we did not even wait till the event finished lol. We decided to get going and brought the kids to the nearby park as token of appreciation for being good and give full cooperation during the walk hehe.

WE DID IT!

To many City Walk together!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Anyway, watch our video too!

Soalan bonus buat org Penang: Warna biji remia tu warna apa? 😅 Abu Mamu Rajalawak kata kalau orang Penang taktau, taktau la nak kata apa. Kalau yang tak tau jawapan, leh tengok video ni okay. 😝 Yang belum subscribe channel tu pun, jangan lupa subscribe okay. Thanksbye.

  13. That's a really nice "tradition" ...it keeps the family together and keeps a healthy lifestyle right at the start of the new year. Wonder if KL has the same kind of event or not. It will be a great way to learn more about the cities in Malaysia.
