The day I spend with my loved ones
I picked Amir & Nurin up, together with their grandma (my aunty) in Cheras at noon and headed to our first destination – The National Planetarium. I don’t wish to talk about the place now, but surely will add it up in my Travel Blog later. But there are some of many interesting things I like about the place which I last went during my primary school visit.

Nokia N8 – Capturing Penang with the 12MP camera
Nokia N8 offers its 12 megapixels (mp) camera with Carl Zeiss optic, maximum aperture f/2.8 with xenon flash. The flash range is 3-3.5m for normal condition. The camera has the wide-angle capabilities of a 28mm lens which would be very convenience than the typical 35mm. The 1/1.83” sensor used in the N8 uses 1.75 micron pixels which, with its 12-megapixel resolving capability, results in a sensor larger than most compact digital cameras. The ISO range is ISO100 (default), ISO400 and ISO800.
In a video of Dr. Hubert Nasse of Carl Zeiss talking about the N8 camera module during Photokina 2010 in Cologne, he stated that the Carl Zeiss lens inside the N8 are made out of 5 single optical elements with complex shapes never seen before in large scale optics. This results in excellent image quality.
The camera function of the Nokia N8 included of some setting options like Scene mode, Self-timer, Colour tone, White Balance, Light Sensitivity (ISO) and the Face detection, which are mostly available in compact digital camera.
So, below are some untouched pictures taken with the Nokia N8. The 12mp size photos are in 4:3 ratio while the 9mp photos are in 16:9 ratio.

Another well spent weekend in Penang
Yes, after a long time, I had my weekend well spent in Penang Island again. When i say ‘well spent’, it means more than just go to Penang for a movie and Starbuck-ing in Queensbay Mall or Gurney Plaza, ok.
Woke up not so early so i missed the chance to go to Taman Tun Sardon for ‘serabai’ breakfast. Yeah, I’ve been hooked up to ‘serabai’ since the first time I tried it during twin cousins, Ekha & Kaina and grandma were here.
So, went to the Rope Walk @ Lorong Kulit but nothing really attract my attention. Looking for Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck from the uncle that i bought Salina from, but he doesn’t have it. Oh but we saw IPhone instead. But didn’t ask how much would he sell. Then, had lunch at Astaka Selera Stadium, next to the Penang Stadium and near the Lorong Kulit.
Then we headed to Upper Penang Road for the Little Penang Street Market. Last weekend was the 4th anniversary of the voluntary street market, which opens every last Sunday of the month.
Street opera performance by a Japanese soprano, Ranko Kurano. Check my Qik for her video.
After that, we went all over Penang (ok, not really. i was exaggerating :P ) to find cempedak goreng. Yes, I wanted cempedak goreng that bad since like weeks ago and I couldn’t find any in Parit Buntar and Nibong Tebal area. :/
We went round and round to some places in Penang and kept looking, till we found a small stall in a housing area in Jelutung selling the cempedak goreng. Wooott!! Marvellous! Then went to another place - which I am not sure what’s the name of the place, a new place by the sea - hang out there to have the wonderfully taste cempedak goreng. XD
Then, after we finished with the cempedak goreng, guess where we headed to?
My tour guide of the day ( yes, i retired of being the tour guide for the weekend ;p ) brought me to a place named Relau. Why did we go to Relau…? Well, in Relau, there’s a place selling fruits on the roadside.
The one thing that i like about this place is you can buy the fruits and dine-in there. The place is really nice and clean.
And this is what we came here for………
Now, what do we do after eating the durian? The old folks say, to prevent our body from the heat of eating durian, we should drink the water from the ‘pasung’ durian. And that’s exactly what I did. :P
After finished the fruit fiesta, we went hanging out in front of Queensbay area, watching the kite-flying here are there. Honestly, I’ve never ever succeed in flying a kite. But that was during the childhood. Never tried to fly a kite after i turned 17. Should really try it again some times – till I can finally make the kite flies.
No. This is not a bird, or a Batman! This is a kite.
The Penang Bridge. Also, since 1985! ;)
Well hey, anybody misses this? Err… i mean the satay ikan, not the brother. :P
I really need a new lens. At least a new kit lens. Shooting with the manual focus sucks to the max! Gggrrrr!!
p/s: Thank you, tour guide of the day, for the cempedak goreng & durian!! You know you’re the best!!! :D

Rebak Island Getaway!!
Thanks to Uncle Zahar & Aunty Rozie, I went to Rebak Island for a short getaway on June 5th-8th with the whole family – Uncle Zahar, Aunty Rozie, cousins Ekha, Kaina, Shana, An, grandma (Mak), brother (Abang Awin) and sis-in-law (Kak Ann).
Rebak Island is an island off Langkawi Island. To get to Rebak, we took the boat from a small jetty, located more or less 5 minutes away from the Langkawi International Airport. The boat ride took us around 15minutes to reach the breathtaking Rebak Island.
The cousins (fr left: Shana, Ekha, Kaina, An) on the boat.
See Shana’s face in above pict – the face of a person who ‘lost’ her BB. Ok, Shana, i need to admit. It was funny since Ekha acted real good! Haha.
I don’t really have a lot of thing to tell during the holiday. Just have a look at some of the picture of the place, ok. Oh, the place we stayed at was the Taj - Rebak Island Resort.
The welcoming yacht at the Rebak Island jetty. I wish to own one. *pray*
I missed kayak so much, that I’m happy that we get to kayak there.
Since there were not many people around, it makes the kayaking more fun! But, to have to team-up with Shana means you need to get yourself to work harder. Shana suka curik tulang, duduk belakang tau la I tak nampak!! :P
Plus, look……
…she bullied me… :’(
Get to play in the sea water!!
The next day we were there, we get to cycle around, played indoor games i.e ping-pong, archery (yeahh most of them try to beat Robin Hood so badly, but, well, you know..), and spend the time at the beach. Very chillaxing!
Kaina at the archery spot
Ekha on the hammock, at the beach.
The resort library. Can you spot Shana?
Spend the next day at Langkawi main island. Went to several places, bought some chocolate and had lunch before coming back to Rebak Island.
If only this baby is mine… *drool*
An, with the eagle at Eagle Square
At the room balcony. Ok i know it’s too bright you can’t see the beach at the background –_-“
Abang during the breakfast on the last day
The whole crew before leaving the lovely Rebak Island
Rebak Island is indeed a nice place to go, to spend the leisure time out of the busy life once in a while. Well, at least i think so since I was tired of reading and writing. But hmmm… now I am here back in the campus, and need to write and write again.
Thank you so much again Uncle, Aunty & the whole family for the trip, and for making the trip fun!! *hugs & kisses*
