Malaysian Today Secret Phrase

Have you ever heard of the Malaysian Today fortnight newspaper? I started to read Malaysian Today after I started working in IMU as the paper can be found at colleges, universities, and popular eateries for free on Thursdays, fortnightly. Malaysian Today is not like the average tabloid you boring-ly read everyday. It is a magazine-style newspaper which gives you facts, information, so colorful and it is fun to read. Really suits their slogan: No 1 Youth Weekly. Plus, they give gift-away too!

And yours truly is one of the winner of the Malaysian Today secret phrase gift-away. Yayyy! It is as simple as ABC.

One of the covers which I twitpic-ed before.

So how to win the gift-away?

The first social activity with the IMU colleagues

Some of you might have known that I am currently working on a contract basis in Chancellery, IMU doing what is not really my cup of tea - office job. I've been going into labs for years that I feel a bit bored doing things like sitting in front of the computer for  7 to 8 hours straight. Well, I wouldn't be if I'm sitting in front of my laptop doing things I love - blogging, tweeting, blogwalking and stuff. Hehe. Well, anyhow, it's been more or less 4 months since I first started working here, and only last Friday I went out socializing with my other colleagues.

Kak Yang, on behalf of the organizer who organized the unofficial bowling tournament had been kind enough to asked me to join them too. I didn't really plan to join cause I have the part time tuition. But I had cough and sore throat, started to lose my voice so I cancelled the class. Cousin Effa who excitedly came to join the bowling get together asked me to tag along so I thought I might just go with them as the class had already been cancelled. So there were we, playing bowling at the Bukit Jalil Golf Resorts.

Sunway Pyramid lights off for the Earth Hour 2011

It is an annual campaign on conserving the earth through the Earth Hour program. Every year in end of March, we are called to switch off the lights as a support to the Earth Hour awareness campaign. This year, the Sunway Pyramid mall together with the Malaysian WWF celebrating the Earth Hour 2011 at the main entrance of Sunway Pyramid.

I wished to go, but didn’t have proper plan. Not until the afternoon on the 26th March itself that me, Khairil, Een and Andy decided to hang out at Empire Subang, which turned out to be a bit bored so we headed to Sunway instead to spend the evening. Since we were already there, we stayed for the Earth Hour countdown as well.

Too bad with no plan, no camera was brought, so all pictures are captured only by our phones.

#harimaumalaya brings back the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010

I know that every single blog must have updated about this since last night, but I want to!

I am so proud of the Malaysia #harimaumalaya team that I want share with everyone the joy of it. :D Watched the game at home last night, shouted and screamed, honestly one of the most nerve-wracking match I’ve ever watch. Feel like gugur jantung to watch every second of game (plus tweeting). :P That match seems more interesting than any Manchester United game I’ve ever watched. Haha.

Anyway, by beating the Indonesia Garuda team 3-0 in the first leg (Stadium Bukit Jalil), and score 1-2 against them in the second leg (Gelora Bung Karno), Malaysia Tiger wins the game and brings back the AFF Suzuki Cup WITH PROUD!

*STANDING OVATION*

And one thing that I really really wanna share, especially with those who are not in Twitter, check this out!

Lawatan sambil tweet ke Zoo Negara

Planned a trip to Zoo Negara last weekend with some Twitter friends who are now my real life friends. Some of us went to a #kltour trip to Muzium Negara, Planetarium Negara, Tugu Negara and Central Market (which was more to a hangout session for us but a first time visit for Eny ;p) last month.

The previous member of the trip  (Me, Aman, Eny, Ayong, Kay and Mun), together with some new members, Een, Kerel and Zelo  went to the Zoo Negara last Sunday.

According to the plan, we were supposed to meet at the Zoo by 10 am, which on the day, I was still at home waiting for somebody to pick me up. Yeah. So janji Melayu, kan? -__-"

Setulus Kaseh Charity Dinner with @maherzain - by Yayasan Kemanusiaan Muslim Aid Malaysia

Hey guys, as some of you might know, I’ve been blogging about Rumah Titian Kaseh (RTK) for a few times by now. I was also invited  by Mr. Muhammad from Donate For Ummah – the man who always gives his hand to help the unfortunate from RTK  as a writer for the RTK blog ( I didn’t really write a lot there tho.. huhu... my bad -_-" ) Anyway, he asked me to help to promote a charity dinner with the most charming male singer of the moment, Maher Zain they’ve been planning.

The day I spend with my loved ones

I had my day spend today with my loved ones – my mum, niece Nurin and nephew Amir the whole day yesterday. Went to several places as promised to Amir and Nurin. Too bad Hilman didn’t join us.

I picked Amir & Nurin up, together with their grandma (my aunty) in Cheras at noon and headed to our first destination – The National Planetarium. I don’t wish to talk about the place now, but surely will add it up in my Travel Blog later. But there are some of many interesting things I like about the place which I last went during my primary school visit.

Ok memang malas nak tulis panjang2, sebab dah konfem2 banyak blog lain cerita tentang ke-happening-an #Oct23rdtwtup nih! Tapi… kalau korang ada kat sana masa tu.. lagi terasa keohseman tweet up nih. Betul, tak tipu! :P

Annual break-fasting gathering with girlfriends dilemma

Every year (or at least the last 2-3 years), my girlfriends and I always had at least an Iftar get-together during Ramadhan. It has been like an annual thing for us to do. And every year, I’ve never failed to made it to the Iftar gathering. In fact, I was one of the very excited ones to call/text the others and make plans.

(2008 and 2009 Iftar blog posts)

DSC00612Little Penang Cafe (KLCC), 2008

DSC00629After-Iftar session, A&W (KLCC), 2008

This year, Naddy took the initiative to message us on FB to set the date sooner, since everyone’s going to be busy with works, planning iftar with family members and some with wedding arrangements. And since I am busy struggling with the thesis writing, I can only be back on certain weekends.

So after the discussion, they agreed to meet up on the 21st/22nd August, which I most probably won’t be able to make it since I’m going back this weekend (and I bought the return tickets already).

But then Sharmi started making sad face emoticon in the message - then on my FB wall – and followed by some others. I didn’t know what to say, just that I really can’t make it due to some reasons like work stuffs and cost, for sure.

Then Eda started to say thing that made me awed.

(altogether now) Awwwwwwwwwwww~

But B my dear, “the cause of Bringing Julia Home for Ramadhan”?! LOL. Dah macam kempen ape je nih.

But hey, aren’t they the sweetest thing that ever happen to me? :’)

Manchester United AON Jersey official launch in Malaysia

So the leaked out photos of Manchester United (ManU) new jersey with its new sponsor AON embedded on the chest turned out to be the real ManU kits for season 2010/11.

Little design touches with the club initials printed on the back of the collar

United Devil detailed on the sleeve

(Source : Soccerbible.com)

Honestly the design which is inspired by the ManU 1980/81 season kits by Adidas isn’t something to be talked about. It’s simple, yet classic.

But one thing that excites me about the new jersey is that it is made of recycled polyester. The new ManU jersey is engineered and constructed under Nike's 'Considered Design' programme – which each of it is made entirely from recycled polyester, each crafted from up to eight plastic water bottles! Yeahh~! Polymer thingy does excite me to the max! :P

Now, lets do the maths.

  1. It’s Manchester United, for God’s sake! My favourite team.
  2. Nike is my all time favourite sports brand.
  3. Now, its the polymer thing with the jersey.

What any better combination could i ask for? :P

The new ManU home kit is officially in Malaysia launched by AON Malaysia on 15th July 2010, at Roof Top, Lot 10, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Cousin Effa works for AON, so here are some picts taken from her. :)

The Barclays English Premier League (EPL) has announced the schedule for 2010/11 season and the kick off will be on August 14, 2010. Manchester United first game will be on the August 16 against the Newcastle United at the Old Trafford. Good luck, my Red Devils!

A house is not a home

Few months back, i wrote a blog post about a shelter home, Rumah Titian Kasih (RTK) near Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur (read it here) during a visit there. I met lovely yet  lonely orphanages, old folks and single mothers.

DSC05817Me & Kak Cik

In more or less a year before,  bestfriend, Baiti came up with her beautifully written article about the same RTK in The Star “Welcome cash boost for home’s residents”.

So, anyway, since I’m known as a person who is so lazy to read the news, Mum always text me if there are something big in everyday news that she think i need to check it. I had a perfect morning – woke up early & fresh, despite went to bed a bit late, had Roti Planta & Neslo Ice for breakfast, and received the claim cheque – until I got Mum’s text…

“Penghuni rumah titian kasih kene halau x mampu bayar sewa. Kosmo ada gambar Nana tgh keluar”
DSC05826 My cousin with Nana :)

I can still remember her voice.. repeatedly saying ““mana ibu nana…?” “kenapa ibu x datang..?”Mak Pah baik… jaga kami….mak Pah baik sangat….

So I checked out Kosmo online, and TheStar online and… i almost had tears in my eyes.

I know there’s nothing I can do. All that I’m capable of doing is to pray that there is someone, or some organization, or the government, whoever out there will come and help them, as we know Mak Pah can’t handle this all by herself, alone.

Taken from the article written by my bestfriend, Baiti;

“However, I worry what would happen to the children if we don’t own our own house. I won’t be around forever,”
– Mak Pah

Teater Muzikal Teratak Minang

Mainan muzik yang diketuai oleh Pak Ngah a.k.a Shuhaimi Mohd Zain sangat bestt!!

DSC06484

Kebetulan hari tu hari terakhir, Malam Gala, turut dihari oleh Dato Seri Utama Rais Yatim. Elly Kassim menjemput Puan Seri Utama berduet dendangkan lagu Ubekkan Denai pada penutup teater. Not bad! ;p
  DSC06494

Diperkenalkan……

DSC06509

Rustam Rusdi, Arif Rahman Rusvid & Imam Rellygius Tartusi. 3 jejaka anggota kumpulan trio Ganto Rio dari Padang, Indonesia. Yang berjaya menambat hatiku itu ialah Imam yg comel :’) lantak lah org lain kata muka dia jambu. hati dah suka. nasib baik x ikut die balik Padang :p

Dah lah sedih x sedar kamera kompak set ISO tinggi.. tengok gambar dah byk noise.. :( sbb tu jugak x leh upload banyak gambar.

Untuk gambar2 Teater Muzikal Teratak Minang tengok kat sini. Jumpa masa Google hari tu. Nak lebih lagi, Google la sendiri. Hehe.

Honestly, eventho without the cutie pie Imam Rellygius Tartusi, i would still give the show a perfect 5 stars!! Elly Kassim, Eddy Sillitongga, the actors and actresses, the musicians, the dancers - Artistana Istana Budaya (Malaysia) & Sofyani Dance Group (Indonesia), the crews – they all deserved a standing ovation!!

Terima kasih abg Den Wahab for the beautiful Teratak Minang The Musical!!

So, seperti biase, siapa nak belanja? ;p
